Should Mediation be compulsory?

22.03.2011

A Government review is to consider whether to introduce compulsory mediation in the context of divorce disputes. The need to cut costs is prompting a closer look at this alternative dispute resolution process.

Mediation can be a speedy, cost effective means of resolving disputes without having to go to court. It can be used for any kind of dispute (personal or commercial, major or minor) and is a confidential and relatively informal process usually lasting about a day where an independent Mediator assists the parties to find an acceptable resolution to their dispute.

Mediation is also helpful within the workplace to help reconcile differences and restore working relationships.

Anne is also a qualified Mediator and provides independent mediation services via a separate company: Lane McMahon Limited. For more information please visit: www.lanemcmahon.co.uk or contact Anne by email at anne@lanemcmahon.com
